How Does This Workshop Series Support Students and Programs?

The Skills We’ll Cover

The Internship Prep Workshop Series focuses on four core topics: CVs, Cover Letters, Essays, and Interview Preparation. Each workshop is one hour and includes ample time for questions and discussion. A key strength of my approach is supporting students who are pursuing a wide range of paths. Wherever you are starting from and wherever you hope to go, I am here to help you move forward with confidence.

Beyond Match Rates: High Impact Support for Students

The fact is that most psychology doctoral programs have outstanding match rates. This workshop series provides an added benefit of an experienced and current inside perspective. I recognize the most common—and costly—mistakes and missed opportunities in both written applications and interviews (and dispel some myths!) to help students thrive rather than survive this important milestone.

Long-Lasting Impact Beyond Match Day

I understand what makes application materials truly stand out while still reflecting each student’s unique voice. I offer students a skilled, objective resource to refine their materials, build new strengths, and prepare thoughtfully for interviews. The strategies, skills, and confidence they gain are broadly transferable, supporting their readiness for the postdoctoral fellowship and jobs, and long-term career development well beyond this immediate application cycle.

Saving Faculty Time While Enhancing Student Outcomes

Providing comprehensive internship application preparation demands substantial time and effort from faculty and DCTs—time that is inevitably pulled away from teaching, supervision, research, and program leadership. Applications are also deeply personal for students and typically require multiple iterations to produce a strong final product. My workshops and consultation services streamline this process, saving time while enhancing the quality and consistency of guidance.

Let’s Talk Numbers: Internship Match Trends to Watch

  • In the 2025-2026 match, 4,358 students submitted 70,866 applications to 3,680 accredited positions.
  • Since 2023, the total number of applicants has increased by 17% (N=690) while the total number of available positions (including accredited and non-accredited) has decreased by 1% (N=36).
  • In the 2025-2026 match, 19% of applicants (N=845) did not match in Phase 1. This is an increase of 6% over 2023 but steady since last year.
  • Phase 2 outcomes coming soon!

Complimenting Faculty Support for Student Success

My workshops and consultation are designed to align with and reinforce faculty guidance, complementing and extending their support by solidifying key messages, addressing practical questions, and helping students create strong applications and confident interview skills.
